WHO ARE WE?
As a certified medical auditor, I took on the task of assisting my mother, who suffers from lipedema in maneuvering through the appeals process. Initially, she was under the coverage of UHC, and although her initial surgery was ultimately approved, the second round denied. Fortunately, her insurance transitioned right around the denial to Cigna due to her husband's job. Similar to the UHC situation, Cigna initially denied the preauthorization, but through the appeal process, they granted approval. Currently, she is in the process of scheduling her procedure with Dr. Hagopian. Within my profession, I was astounded by the exorbitant fees some individuals charge to help women secure approvals. I questioned my mother about whether the effort we put into gaining approval was worth the high price tag, and we both reached the consensus that it was not, especially when those funds could potentially be used to offset the cost of your procedure in the unfortunate event that you have to cover it out of your own pocket. Moreover, the majority of the effort involved in this process is being undertaken by you, nor can anyone guarantee approval.
